1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Similar techniques, such as local storage and pixels, work in a comparable way. In this policy we call all of them cookies.
2. Our approach
We keep cookies to a minimum. Cookies that are strictly necessary for the website and app to work are placed without asking. Analytics and advertising cookies are only placed after you give consent in the cookie banner, as the Dutch Telecommunications Act (Telecommunicatiewet) and the GDPR require. If you say no, the website works just the same.
We use Google Consent Mode. That means Google tags on our website respect your choice: without consent, they don't store or read cookies for analytics or advertising.
3. Cookies we use
We use three services that place cookies, all only with your consent. We set the cookies we control to expire after 30 days.
| Service | Cookies | What it does | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | _ga, _ga_<id> | Counts visits and shows which pages and sources work, so we can improve the website | Analytics | 30 days |
| Microsoft Clarity | _clck, _clsk | Shows how visitors use pages, with heatmaps and session recordings. Text you type into forms is masked. | Analytics | 30 days |
| Google Ads | _gcl_au | Measures which ads lead to visits and sign-ups, and helps show our ads to relevant people | Advertising | 30 days |
| Mentiofy | mentiofy_consent | Remembers your cookie choices, so we don't ask on every visit | Strictly necessary | 30 days |
| Mentiofy app | session cookie | Keeps you logged in to app.mentiofy.com | Strictly necessary | Until you log out |
Google and Microsoft may also use cookies on their own domains, such as google.com and clarity.ms, when their services load. Those are set and controlled by them.
4. Who receives the data
Data collected through these cookies is sent to Google (Google Analytics, Google Ads) and Microsoft (Clarity). They act on our behalf for analytics, and for advertising Google may also use the data for its own purposes as described in its policies. Both companies may process data in the United States, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Read more in Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and Microsoft's privacy statement (privacy.microsoft.com).
5. Your choices
When you first visit our website, you choose whether to accept analytics and advertising cookies. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's opt-out add-on for Google Analytics. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the app won't work, for example logging in. Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of analytics and advertising cookies.
6. Personal data in cookies
Some cookies contain personal data, such as an identifier or your IP address. We handle that data as described in our Privacy policy, where you can also read about your rights.
7. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when we add or change cookies. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we want to use a new kind of optional cookie, we will ask for your consent again.
